Real Health Conversations
Real Health Conversations (Formerly Low-Carb Conversations) is hosted by Holly Jean Mullen, FNTP and features a variety of voices in the world of modern nutrition and health science, expressing many different points of view.

Welcome to Low Carb Conversations with Leah Williamson and Holly Jean Mullen, Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioners.

In this episode, Holly Jean and Leah chat with Katie Beecher, Internationally known Medical and Emotional Intuitive and Licensed Professional Counselor with over 30 years of experience. Katie’s mission is to help as many people as possible connect to their intuitions, find unconditional love and self acceptance.

Katie has a new book out called, Heal from Within: A Guidebook to Intuitive Wellness, and she shares how to connect to your intuition to help guide and identify your physical and emotional key health issues. Using the chakras as a framework, Katie describes how we should make friends with illness instead of seeing it as enemy = the body is always trying to communicate with us and symptoms are its language.

This episode provides practical action items and key tips for connecting and understanding your body. We wrap up with a conversation about medical gaslighting and why people are often told there is nothing wrong with them. Gaslighting further complicates and compounds the lack of body wisdom and intuition, which further disconnects people from listening to their bodies and inner voice.

Welcome to Low Carb Conversations with Leah Williamson and Holly Jean Mullen, Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioners.

In this episode, Holly Jean and Leah chat with The Ketogenic Pharmacist Brian O’Halloran. Brian is a pharmacist of 20+ years and a Certified Ketogenic Nutrition Specialist. Often times, people think of their local pharmacist as a person who just fills prescriptions. Brian busts that myth and lets us know just how important, even critical, pharmacists are in the medical industry.

Brian is a bit of rogue pharmacist and wants to see his patients less by educating people about diet and lifestyle changes that can help them ditch the prescriptions all together. In this informative and interesting chat, we talk about:

  • Precautions when starting Low Carb/Keto diet if you are on medications
  • How to deal with Keto Flu
  • Why you must talk to your doctor about dietary changes and when you might want to find a new doctor

Welcome to Low Carb Conversations with Leah Williamson and Holly Jean Mullen, Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioners.

In this episode, Leah and Holly Jean discuss contributing factors of autoimmune disease. For decades, doctors and researchers believed that autoimmune conditions were genetic, or hereditary, and even a normal side effect of the aging process. But as conditions are rising at alarming rates and the age of diagnosis is getting younger and younger, researchers are asking questions and exploring the reasons for autoimmune onset.

We take a look at nutrition and lifestyle factors in this episode and discuss whether or not the western diet is to blame. If nutrition and diet play a role in developing autoimmune disease, is it possible to use therapeutic diets to reverse symptoms and diagnosis? We explore all this and more, in this episode!
