Real Health Conversations
Real Health Conversations (Formerly Low-Carb Conversations) is hosted by Holly Jean Mullen, FNTP and features a variety of voices in the world of modern nutrition and health science, expressing many different points of view.

This week on the Real Health Conversations Podcast, Holly takes a look at the spiritual aspects of fasting. People of all walks of life are rediscovering the wisdom of fasting and feasting, the circadian rhythms of nature, and tuning in to the ancestral and spiritual aspects of primal health cycles.

This episode looks at fasting, specifically fasting from sugar and the so-called socially acceptable addictions – sugar and caffeine – and how those two crutches may be holding us back from the true health and spiritual transformations that many are seeking. Sugar, refined carbohydrates, ultra processed foods, and refined grains are at the root of inflammation and many disease pathways yet they are the hardest, most addictive foods to give up. Some call them addictions, others may see them as strongholds.

Fasting is a powerful tool to leverage a food addiction, or an over-reliance on foods for comfort, support, and sustenance. In this episode we look at the benefits of fasting for mental function, healing rejuvenation, and increased willpower. Fasting from sugar – the source of sickness for so many – is the first step in healing your body physically and spiritually.

Holly’s 6 Week Fall Sugar Fast

40 Day Sugar Fast, Fall Group Program with Holly Jean

If you have been struggling with your diet, with your weight, with your health; If sugar, or sweets, or carbs, or cocktails seem to continually derail your progress; If you have tried to give these items up without success – then you might have a sugar addiction.

Did you know, 88% of the population is metabolically unhealthy? Sugar is at the root of metabolic dysfunction and dis-ease. Join me for my 6 Week Fall Sugar Fast starting this September 19. Beyond a physical detox, this sugar fast is also a spiritual transformation.

What would you be willing to give up to experience the presence of God in your life again? Many of us sign up for a physical detox program, thinking that if our bodies are healthier, then we’re healthier. But a healthy body doesn’t do us a lot of good if we are spiritually malnourished.

My 6 week online group sugar fast follows the book 40 Day Sugar Fast by Wendy Speake. In this sugar fast you’ll learn how to stop fixating on food and other things you use to fill the voids in life and instead fix your eyes on Christ.

Anyone who runs to sugar for comfort or a reward, who eats mindlessly or out of boredom, who feels physically and spiritually lethargic, or who struggles with self-control will discover ,not only freedom from their cravings, but an entirely new appetite for the good things God has for us. Registration is only $40 and is open now. Sign up now at HollyJeanHealth.com/40daysugarfast
