Beth, Ellie, Kara and Leah discuss a new study from a Sydney, Australia hospital that looked at why so many patients who presented with heart attacks had none of the usual associated risk factors - what could be the issue?  In the second article we discuss low-calorie sweetened beverages (LCSBs). The article suggests LCSB do not adversely affect blood sugar levels and could promote healthier eating through lower-carb consumption - really? How do you think we respond?

How Preservatives Can Make Us Gain Weight

The study claims that low saturated fat in take can shorten ones life by 13%, yet a diet high in fat cuts ones life by 23%. How confusing! The solution? The authors suggest a happy medium..yet strongly urge to not have a high fat intake. Listen in to hear the NTP perspective! Secondly, a new article talks about how preservatives can make us gain weight. Preservatives can interfere with our endocrine system and cause weight gain. But what about natural preservatives? Tune in!

On this week's episode Leah and Kara talk with Jessica Curl and Natalee Anderson. We get to know Jessica as she shares her history of being a professional soccer player, her experience with fitness, diet and the shocking story off how she ripped her Achilles. Yikes! Natalee explains a past of depression, miscarriage, corporate burnout and an Autoimmune condition Arthritis Ankylosing Spondylitis where she was told her spine would fuse and her eventual fate could possibly be a wheelchair. One day she became inspired to take life into her own hands through diet, exercise and mindset and never looked back.

Kara, Leah, Jessica and Natalee discuss that scandal in the paleo world that is Pete Evans new documentary, "The Magic Pill." Doctors absolutely slammed Evans for saying switching to a real foods diet can aid in treating chronic health conditions. Evan's talks about how grains effect the gut and a ketogenic diet can be beneficial for seizure patients. Unfortunately, the Australian Medical Association found this utterly insulting. Are they being too harsh, or is there validity to Evans' claims? Transitioning into the second article was based around sleep. A new study shows that poor sleep can increase obesity and being overweight. Jessica and Natalee dissect just how vital sleep can be for our metabolism and over all health. You don't want to miss it!
